Bihar State Foundation Day celebrated in Kohima with Governor Nand Kishore Yadav highlighting heritage, unity and growth

DIMAPUR — Bihar State Foundation Day was celebrated at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on Sunday in the presence of the Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav.
In his address, the governor called upon members of the Bihari community to take immense pride in their identity and rich heritage, the Lok Bhavan Kohima stated in a press release.
Yadav emphasised that being a Bihari is not just a matter of regional belonging, but a reflection of a glorious legacy that has significantly contributed to the making of India.

Highlighting Bihar’s unparalleled historical and cultural importance, he noted that the state has been a cradle of ancient civilization, knowledge, and spirituality.
He referred to the land of Bihar as the birthplace of great centres of learning such as Nalanda and Vikramshila, which attracted scholars from across the world and symbolised India’s intellectual leadership in ancient times.
The governor further underscored Bihar’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle, recalling the sacrifices and leadership of prominent figures who played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s destiny.
Yadav also mentioned the state’s association with great spiritual traditions, including Buddhism and Jainism, which have spread messages of peace and non-violence across the globe.
He encouraged the Bihari community to uphold these values, remain connected to their roots, and carry forward the legacy of resilience, knowledge, and cultural richness.
He also urged the people of Bihar to preserve and promote their rich cultural heritage, emphasizing that culture is the true identity of a community.
The governor encouraged Biharis living across different parts of the country to remain proud of their origins and uphold their traditions, language, and values wherever they reside, acting as ambassadors of Bihar’s legacy.
Reiterating his message, Yadav said that Bihar’s past achievements and its vibrant present serve as a source of inspiration for the entire nation, and urged everyone to celebrate and take pride in being a part of such a distinguished heritage.
He further called upon the Biharis residing in Nagaland to actively participate in the development of the state and play a meaningful role in its progress.
He encouraged them to contribute through their skills, enterprise, and hard work in various sectors, and to work in harmony with the local communities.
Emphasising unity and collective responsibility, the governor stated that such collaborative efforts would significantly contribute towards building a prosperous, inclusive, and vibrant Nagaland.
Delivering the welcome address, Thavaseelan K, Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor, stated that the event reflects the true spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
He highlighted that Bihar, as a cradle of knowledge, has played a pivotal role in shaping the cultural, intellectual, and historical foundations of India.
Expressing optimism about the state’s progress, he said that Bihar continues to uphold a vibrant present while moving towards a promising future. He further noted that such events serve to strengthen the bonds of unity and reinforce the spirit of harmony among the people.
The event featured a series of cultural performances and literary presentations, including a speech on Bihar state by Advocate YP Gupta, vice president of Nagaland Bihari Samaj.
