Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): State governor, PB Acharya, has impressed upon the students not to be mere certificate graduate but people with ability to transform and reform the society through skillful education.
Acharya, who is the official visitor of the St. Joseph’s University, Dimapur, paid an official visit to the university on July 23 and attended the lecture on ‘Skill development; making youth employable.’
Addressing the programme, Acharya encouraged the students to enable themselves employable through acquiring skills and not just mere certificate holders. He also urged St. Joseph University to take the lead in transforming the society through education.
He introduced to the students on various prime minister’s skill development programmes and encouraged them to take up. Acharya also insisted upon the need to preserve the mother tongue, which according to him is the base of every society.
Dr. Ganadurai, the university vice chancellor, delivered the keynote address. In his address, he explained the unique nature of the university stating that the university is well ahead in implementing central government approved skill development programmes.
He also stated that all the faculties in the university would be doctorate holders in two years time.
The programme started with a prayer said by FR Justin, PRO of the university, while the welcome address was delivered by Dr. A Kanchana, registrar of the university.
The program was attended by Sr. Jagani, secretary of the university; Sr. Thaines, administrator; and other official of the universities.
