Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): Lamenting that many educated people are not aware of various government schemes for the poor, Governor PB Acharya called upon rich and the privileged to come forward and be a shareholder for the progress of the nation.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the four-day annual cultural competition organised by Dimapur Bangali Samaj on June 24 in Dimapur, governor urged the samaj to help the needy people and also contribute for the economically growth of the state.
Lauding the Samaj for having organised such a programme, he appealed to them to use the occasion for the well being of the downtrodden and the deprived.
The programme was conducted at the Shree Shree Ram Thankur Sevashram premises in Dimapur. Kavita Acharya wife of the governor and Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Sushil Kumar Patel also attended the programme as special guests. The Bengali samaj felicitated leaders of different communities and prominent personalities of Dimapur.
Delivering his welcome address, Advocate Kamala Kanta Paul, president of the samaj highlighted various social activities promoted by the governor and lauded him for his commendable services.
On the occasion, the union also felicitated 27 rank holders in the recently declared HSLC and HSSLC belonging to different communities from Nagaland. Prizes for various competitions were distributed to the winners.
