Dimapur, Dec. 9 (EMN): Governor PB Acharya has made an ardent appeal not to forget one’s language, roots and traditions as they represent our identity who we are. He also encouraged the youth to popularise the rich cultural heritage and teach the younger generation so that the traditions and customs are not lost.
Acharya said this in his address during the folk music festival at St. Joseph’s School ground, Viswema, on Dec. 9, organised by Pavo Students’ Union (PSU). He was accompanied by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.)
Acharya has appreciated the youth for taking keen interest in preserving folk music and other traditional practices. He encouraged the youth to popularise the rich cultural heritage and to also teach the younger generation in order conserve the traditions and customs.
Acharya also called upon the students to start taking skill based courses for all round development and also to be employed. Stating that a stagnation point has been reached in the government job sector, the Governor encouraged the students to take up job oriented courses and to be examples for others. While explaining that there are various government schemes to help entrepreneurs establish their business and also to help them stand on their feet, he encouraged the youth to avail such opportunities.
Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.), in his speech, said such colourful attires, songs and dances should be preserved and promoted. He congratulated the Pavo students for organising such an event.
In her welcome address, president pf Pavo Students Union, Vizovonu Janet Chaya explained that the main objective for organising the music fest was to preserve and popularise the diverse music forms of Viswema, to promote the rich cultural heritage and to promote tourism. She added that the festival was organised with the hope to bring people of all age together from all parts of Viswema.
Various forms of folk music, dance and practices were showcased during the festival.
