Dimapur, June 4 (EMN): The governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has called on the people of the state to take care of the earth, to rededicate the commitment towards preservation and protection of the pristine environment and to create a plastic free Nagaland.
Governor in a message stated that each year World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern and the theme for 2018 is “Beat Plastic Pollution.”
He called for citizens to come together and combat one of the greatest environmental challenges: curbing plastic usage.
World Environment Day is observed every year to raise global awareness for protection of Mother Nature and Planet Earth and also to take positive environmental actions, he reminded.
Acharya has appealed to all government departments and agencies, educational institutions, nature lovers, industrialists, corporate leaders, traders, NGOs to come forward and spread awareness about plastic pollution and its prevention.
Environment might be one of the most important treasures we have and we must all play our role in preserving it, the message added.
