Dimapur, May 7 (EMN): Considering scarcity of water especially in the hilly areas of Nagaland during the lean seasons, Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has iterated promoting rain water harvesting as the need of the hour for the state.
Acharya stated this during a meeting of ambassadors of the Swachh Bharat Mission he convened at the Raj Bhavan in Kohima on May 7. He emphasised on rain water harvesting in the state as the hilly areas face water scarcity during the dry seasons. He called upon the ambassadors to encourage others to engage water harvesting methods in their respective district.
A press release by the PRO to governor informed that Acharya appreciated the state’s ambassadors and the work they were doing for the Swachh Bharat movement. Besides, he encouraged the ambassadors to construct public toilets in all their respective district stating that the facilities play a role in community health and individual wellbeing. He added that women face a lot of difficulties in places where public toilets are not available.
The ambassadors are said to have highlighted to the governor various activities and programmes they undertook in their respective area. They submitted their reports during the meeting too, it was informed.
