Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya appreciated the Nagaland University and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), Nagaland Regional Office for taking up the challenge in creating entrepreneurship for economic uplift in the field of agriculture during a review meeting held at Raj Bhavan Kohima on April 8.
However, he called on the two institutions to support the entrepreneurs till they can stand on their own and added that the goal of the educational institutions should not be only to impart knowledge but also to make the students stand on their own feet. He hoped that skill development programmes are been introduced in all the colleges in Nagaland.
The Governor called for identification of the State’s natural resources, the need of the State and society, and to introduce academic skill courses in order to mould students to entrepreneurs. He also opined that it will strengthen the society economically; and it should be the agenda of educational institutions.
Vice Chancellor of NU, Dr Pardeshi Lal and General Manager of Nabard, Dimapur, SK Dhumal highlighted the governor on the initiatives taken by the two institutions during the occasion. They stated that 62 students studying in the School of Agriculture Studies and Rural Development (SASRD), NU were sensitised on various avenues in agricultural field by AGM, Nabard HV Biswas.
“Interactions were also held with the university staff on Nabard’s various promotional and developmental initiative and urged for support and coordination for successful implementation in the State for creating self employment opportunities,” read a statement issued by PRO to Governor.
