Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): State governor PB Acharya along with various organisations and politicians cutting across party line have mourned the demise of former minister Nyeiwang Konyak who passed away on January 31 in Dimapur following prolong illness.
Governor: In a condolence message addressed to Ngulanie-u Nyeiwang, the state governor PN Acharya stated that Nyeiwang Konyak had served the people of Nagaland in different capacities and dedicated his life towards the welfare of the Naga society. “His demise has left a great void which will be hard to fill. The State has lost a politician who was always concern about the welfare of the people,” governor said.
He has further conveyed condolences to all members of the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty to grant strength and solace to overcome the grief.
CM: State chief minister TR Zeliang, while mourning the demise of Nyeiwang Konyak, has described him as a sincere, dedicated and a down- to- earth person and a born leader. Stating that Nyeiwang Konyak was a well-respected person, Zeliang said he would be long remembered by all who knew him. He lamented that in his untimely death, the Konyak people in particular and the Nagas in general have lost a true leader of a man.
He further conveyed condolence to the members of the bereaved family and prayed that the Almighty God would grant them courage and fortitude to bear with the irreparable loss. He has further prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
NLA: In another statement, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) has mourned the sudden demise of Nyeiwang Konyak. A condolence message issued by NLA speaker Dr. Imtiwapang Aier has described Nyeiwang Konyak as a dynamic public leader who dedicated his life for the welfare of the Naga people.
The speaker lamented that in his death, the state has lost a committed leader which would be felt greatly by the Naga people in general and the Konyak tribe in particular. He has further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
EPAN: In yet another statement, the Ex-Parliamentarians’ Association of Nagaland (EPAN) has mourned the demise of Nyeiwang Konyak, who was elected to the Nagaland legislative assembly for four consecutive terms from 47-Aboi assembly constituency. The association president T Khongo has described Nyeiwang as a sincere public leader who served the people with full devotion and dedication.
The association has further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
ENWO: Eastern Nagaland Women organisation (ENWO), while mourning the demise of Nyeiwang Konyak, stated that led an exemplary life as a leader adding that he would always continue to be a great inspiration to the people of Eastern Nagaland.
ENWO has sympathised with the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty God to grant them solace to bear with the loss. It further prayed for the eternal rest of the departed soul.
RS MP: Rajya Sabha MP KG Kenye has also mourned the demise of former minister Nyeiwang Konyak. He has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty God to console them for the loss.
VP NSCN (IM): Vice president of NSCN (IM) Gen. (retired) Kholi stated that the demise of Nyeiwang Konyak is a great loss to the Konyak community in general and Aboi area in particular adding his death has left a vacuum that would be hard to fill.
He described Nyeiwang as a dedicated leader who stood for the uplift of his people and also a staunch supporter of the Naga national cause. He has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty God to comfort them in their hour of sorrow and pain. He further prayed to the merciful Lord to grant eternal rest to his soul.
NDPP: Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), in mourning the demise of Nyeiwang Konyak, described him as a simple and refined politician, who gave his best services towards encouraging the education of the younger generation. It stated that Nyeiwang had served the state government as a minister holding different portfolios and stood for his people till he breathed his last.
NDPP president, Chingwang Konyak, and all ranks and files of the party have conveyed condolence to the bereaved family. It prayed to the Almighty God to grant them strength and solace to overcome the loss and to let the departed soul rest in peace.
