Diphu, Jan. 10 (EMN): During his time visit to Karbi Anglong, the governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Wed. met with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and some social and student organisations of Karbi Anglong at Circuit House in Diphu on Jan. 10 Wed.
During his visit various memorandas were submitted by various organisations. The governor also participated in cleanliness drives at the Gandhi Park and paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He visited Diphu govt. boys hr. secondary school and the Diphu civil hospital which is claimed to be the ‘cleanliest hospital in the district.’ He expressed disappointment with the hospital’s management after inspecting the toilet and other sctions at the hospital.
Addressing a press conference, Mukhi talked about development in the district. Until the Northeast region remains underdeveloped, India will not develop, he said. The government is ‘trying’ to bring development in the region by introducing and implementing connectivity such as airways, waterways ,railways, and roads with neighbouring Asian countries. This is to have trade and commerce relations.
Talking to Eastern Mirror, Hill State Demand Council’s (HSDC) General Secretary Laichan Engleng said that the HSDC had submitted a memorandum but could not have proper discussion with the governor.
Likewise, the east and west Karbi Anglong district committee of the BJP has jointly submitted a memorandum regarding implementation of the 244 (A) of the Indian Constitution ‘without delay.’
The BJP party has also demanded publication of the National Registration of Citizen (NRC) and Electoral Rolls in English and ‘immediate completion’ of NH.329 Manja-Diphu-Lumding (52) road.
The governor arrived on Jan.9 evening with wife Prem Mukhi.
