Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visits Tseminyu district and reviews local development issues and schemes.
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visited Tseminyu district and held a meeting with district officers and civil society organisations at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference hall in Tseminyu on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the governor pointed out that although Tseminyu is a young district administratively, it is not a young society. He noted that it is the homeland of the Rengma Nagas, possessing a rich history, distinctive cultural traditions, and strong community institutions.
According to a DIPR report, he urged district officers and civil society leaders to regularly visit the field, interact directly with the people, and understand their difficulties.
The governor encouraged officers to monitor the implementation of flagship schemes, infrastructure projects, and welfare programmes through regular field inspections, using digital systems and technology wherever possible. Stating that agriculture and allied activities remain key sources of livelihood, he asserted that Tseminyu holds significant potential in agriculture, horticulture, livestock, poultry, and related sectors.
He also encouraged the district administration and line departments to identify locally suitable produce, develop producer and self-help groups, facilitate processing and packaging, and connect local products with markets within and outside Nagaland.

Noting that education serves as the foundation for long-term development, the governor stated that healthcare must also remain a top priority. He said primary healthcare institutions should function effectively and ensure essential services are accessible to people in remote and rural areas.
The governor underscored the need for reliable electricity, drinking water, roads, and digital connectivity as basic requisites for development, calling for quality improvements in the district to promote tourism through cultural experiences and community initiatives.
Giving an overview of the district, DC Japheth Woch informed that Tseminyu currently faces administrative challenges due to shortages of officers, hospital facilities, and colleges. He also informed that Tseminyu had been declared a piggery district during a District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting, highlighting urgent needs for road repairs, infrastructure development, and digital connectivity.
In his address, President of the Rengma Hoho Gwasinlo Thong appealed for job reservations for the Rengma community and highlighted the difficulties faced by students due to the absence of a college in the district, which forces them to relocate elsewhere for higher studies.
Member of Legislative Assembly and DPDB Chairman Jwenga Seb delivered the welcome address, while Extra Assistant Commissioner of Tseminyu Molosangla Ozukum chaired the programme.
The session concluded with departmental presentations by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Land Resources, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Mission Vatsalya, and Mission Shakti.
