Mokokchung, November 18: State Governor PB Acharya kick-started his second day tour to Mokokchung on Friday by launching the Swaach Bharat Mission which was organised by All Nagaland Taxi Association, Mokokchung Zone.
The Association also pasted car stickers with the message “Keep your town clean” and distributed dustbin and brooms in commemoration of the Association raising day cum cleanliness drive.
Addressing the Association members and the public at the Town Square popularly known Imlong’s Place, Mokokchung, early this morning, the Governor extended his appreciation on the contributions rendered by the public thereby leading to one of the cleanest and the best districts in Nagaland.
In his appreciation, the Governor said the essence of cleanliness already evolved among the people of Mokokchung even before the concept of Swaach Bharat.
Encouraging the drivers to be self-reliant in future, Acharya suggested them to open bank accounts under Jhan Dan Yojana and avail possible loans so as to enable themselves to purchase vehicles and become the owners of taxis and not drive someone’s vehicles.
Short speeches were also delivered by Advisor of ANTAMZ Tongpangkokba, and chairman of SBM Mokokchung MB Longkumer.
Later, the Governor headed to Fazl Ali College to inspect and interact with the students and faculty. The Governor also visited the Government School in Mongsenyimti village and interacted with the teaching staff, the village council and addressed the students.
He encouraged the young boys and girls to fear and love the Lord which he said is the source of strength, success, and wisdom. He urged the students to set their dreams not only for individual but for the uplift of the community. The Governor expressed his appreciation to the primary children for singing the National Anthem.
In regard to Midday Meal execution, the Governor was pleased to get a good report. He said healthy mind and healthy food is a prerequisite for the children adding that the school should continue to ensure that all children are benefitted by the schemes. He urged the villagers and all concerned to make it a model school.
As a mark of his maiden visit to the village, the Governor also gifted the red shawl to the village Gaonburas.
The Governor also visited the State Agricultural Research Station in Yisemyong and had interaction with the officials. Acharya inquired about their research and experimental activities and how farmers are benefitted out of their research in the field. He encouraged them to do result oriented research works.
Later in the evening, the Governor visited the Nagaland University, Lumami complex, and interacted with the academicians and students.
