Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya on March 16 launched ‘My Northeast App’ at St. Joseph College, Jakhama. My Northeast App is an application with the latest news on jobs, education and infotainment, DPRO report updated on Friday.
Addressing the launching programme, governor said that empowerment by education is a necessity for the development of a country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had observed that many young people with conventional degrees were not employable now and encouraged students to go for professional courses and to be up to date with the world and technology, Acharya said.
Governor called on the students to share their knowledge for the welfare and development of the society and to build an economically strong Nagaland. He also advocated that students should be able to stand on their feet and make the economy of the state strong, once they completed their studies.
Acharya expressed hope that the app will help the students in providing necessary information regarding admissions to various institutions, job opportunities and in other ways.
Director of department of Higher Education, Kuholi Chishi in her speech encouraged the students to make the best use of the app and upgrade and update self with the facilities provided by the app. She also said not just St. Joseph College but the entire student community will benefit from the app.
Explaining about the application, the chief executive officer (CEO) of My Northeast App, Prakash said many Northeast students are deprived of opportunities due to lack of information. The app will provide information on international/ national entrance exams and scholarships; local, corporate and government job details. The app also has a call centre for providing information and any queries of the students, he informed.
The App caters mainly to bring awareness on the people of Northeast India- be it central or corporate jobs or civil service examination, public sector jobs or private sector jobs, NGOs, different national and international scholarships and entrance examinations, fellowships deadlines, current affairs and other useful information that normally skips the eye, the report added.
