Amaluma village celebrates 100 years of existence
Dimapur, Dec. 28 (EMN): Reiterating that the strength of India lies in the development of the village, state governor PB Acharya stated that villages in Nagaland would be developed only when every MP, ministers, and MLAs adopt atleast one village every year during their respective term.
Acharya stated this in his address at the grand centenary celebration of Amaluma village (1917-2017) on December 23 held at the village playground. Stating that India being a union of states, he said every state should be corruption free since they are the pillars of the country and added that all villages in the state should progress.
In order to maintain health of the children and to learn more about discipline and cleanliness, Acharya stressed that Bal Shiksha Kendra should also be established in the villages because children are the future leaders of the country. He stated that a healthy growth and education of children is of utmost importance for the nation. He also encouraged the youth to prefer skill development trainings over conventional degrees of education.
Acharya further reminded that India is a secular country where people of all faiths and religions should live together in harmony.
Earlier, the chief guest accompanied by his wife Kavita Acharya unveiled the monolith erected in commemoration of the centenary celebration.
Guest of honour and MLA of Dimapur-III assembly constituency, Tokheho Yepthomi, in his greetings, expressed that completion of 100 years of the Amaluma village was itself an achievement and its centenary celebration a historic event. He also released the souvenir published in commemoration of the centenary.
In his welcome addressed, Rakesh Hasnu enlightened the gathering on the achievements and progress made by the village in various fields especially in literacy and education. He also stated that the village people were mostly farmers and were self sufficient in terms of production. Despite steady growth in education and employment, he added that the village still remained economically backward in some other sectors.
A brief history of Amaluma village was illustrated by the convenor of the celebration committee Thangnodao Naiding.
Johon Jidung, village council chairman co-convenor of the celebration committee, invoked the God’s blessings.
Kumar Naben, president of Dimasa Public Organization Nagaland (DPON) appreciated the villagers for the pioneering work in celebrating the centenary which the other Dimasa villages had not done though they have completed more than hundred years of village establishment.
L Khevishe Achumi, vice president of Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), reminded the age old harmonious relation between the Sumi and the Kachari communities. Also addressing the gathering SK Khemprai, Advisor of the Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland (KTCN), expressed dissatisfaction over the slow growth of development particularly in the field of education, health, agriculture and water supply due to non availability or insufficient provision of governmental facilities in Dhansiripar sub-division.
The benediction prayer was offered by Satyalal Thaosen, village GB, while the vote of thanks was delivered by advisor of the celebration committee Ramesh Hasnu.
