DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, has insisted on providing good basic infrastructure in education, healthcare, road and banking sectors, while he also urged all the schools and colleges in the state to adopt the New Education Policy (NEP), which aims to elevate the standard of education in India to a global level.
Ganesan stated this during a meeting with head of government offices and civil society organisations of Peren district in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office at New Peren headquarters on Friday. In his address, the governor emphasised the importance of providing good basic infrastructure in the district including education, healthcare, proper roads, and adequate banking facilities.
He has urged all schools and colleges in the state to adopt the New Education Policy (NEP), which aims to elevate the standard of education in India to a global level, a DIPR report stated.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The governor also highlighted the various government health-related schemes in operation such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and the state's CM Health Insurance Scheme. He called upon the concerned departments to ensure that those schemes reach the citizens effectively for their benefit.
Regarding healthcare, he emphasised the need to enhance awareness about tuberculosis and its treatment under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Besides, the governor also stressed the importance of providing clean drinking water to every home through the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and urged the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to ensure that the scheme reaches all citizens.
The government has also highlighted the necessity of banking services, wherein he advocated for every eligible citizen, especially women, to have a Jan-Dhan account. He has requested the district lead bank authority to conduct financial literacy camps in villages to raise awareness about banking and financial facilities.
Expressing concern over drug addiction, the governor urged civil societies and law enforcement agencies to take strong measures against drug abuse. He concluded by urging everyone to be good and law-abiding citizens and to cooperate with the government at both the centre and state levels.
During the meeting, EE PWD (R&B), Dr. Khuito Murumi, presented an overview of road projects in the district, while the DIO of Peren, Dr. Kiholi, highlighted the TB elimination programme.
The meeting was followed by a security coordination session.
