Dimapur, April 25 (EMN): The Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC) of Mumbai with the initiative of the Governor PB Acharya conducted medical camps at various districts in the month of April. A DIPR report informed about the event.
Longleng: A three-day medical camp conducted at the district hospital Longleng was culminated on April 25.
The deputy commissioner of Longleng, John Tsulise Sangtam in his speech thanked the governor and his team of doctors from Mumbai for educating the people with the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. He said that in a remote district like Longleng, health care system is not up to the standard comparing to other district in the state.
DC lauded the medical team for their sincerity and efficient skills that have catered to the needs of the people despite many short comings.
Sangtam expressed optimistic that the people of Longleng have availed the opportunity provided by the doctors. He also thanked the team of Doctor, nurses and staffs of medical superintendent and CMO for extending their cooperation and help rendered during the camp.
Altogether, 521 patients were treated, and 455 patients were screened for oral cancer. It was found out that 34.5% of the district’s population consumes tobacco and 23% of population has pre-cancerous oral lesions. Dr. Rohan Bartakke, tobacco treatment specialist with National Health Mission of Longleng visited several schools. The team educated students on tobacco and its harmful effects.
Mon: Free medical health camp culminated at the district hospital of Mon which was held from April 23 to 25th. Updates from the DIPR informed on Wednesday.
Team leader and physician, Dr. Suparana Nirgudkar thanked the doctors and staff of district hospital for helping in all possible ways. Nirgudkar expressed gratitude to the district’s administrators for necessary arrangements for the successful conduct of the medical camp.
The team is stated to have given free treatment to over 1000 patients.
