La Ganesan inaugurates the Zeliangrong Heraka School bus in
Tening town on Thursday.
- DIMAPUR — The
newly constructed Jadonang Boys Hostel of Zeliangrong Heraka School was
inaugurated on Thursday with the Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, as the chief
guest.
- According to a DIPR report, the governor, speaking on the
occasion at Town Hall, Tening, said that the school was established in 1984
under the initiative of Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland, starting as a humble
primary school with a noble mission to uplift the tribal community through
education while preserving their rich cultural heritage.
- He mentioned that today, almost four decades later,
Zeliangrong Heraka School has blossomed into a high school, illuminating the
lives of students from 23 villages across Nagaland, Assam, and Manipur. The
school’s philosophy of fostering emotional and cultural integrity and bridging
tribal and non-tribal communities through service resonates deeply with the
nation’s ethos of “Unity in Diversity”.
- He said that it is heartening to note that since 2006, the
school’s students have maintained a 100% pass rate in the HSLC exams for 16 out
of 19 years, including an unbroken 12-year streak from 2011 to 2022.
- He hoped that the inauguration of the Jadonang Boys Hostel
building would mark a transformative chapter and further inspire the students
to strive for excellence.
- MLA Namri Nchang, who was present as the guest of honour,
appreciated the work of late Rani Gaidinliu. He said that at present, the
school hosts several students from three different states and encouraged
everyone to work together in achieving greater heights of success. He urged the
teaching faculty and all the students to remain steadfast in the face of
knee-jerk reactions and to be more sensible and realistic when embracing more
favourable outcomes.
- Nchang also congratulated Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland for
their efforts in enhancing the lives of young students by providing facilities
to host the boys separately. He encouraged the students, stating that an
individual’s success can be attained only through self-determination.
