Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has stressed the need for providing skill development saying it will lead India towards development and economic growth.
He was addressing the 24th Annual Parents Day of St.Mary’s Montessori & Hr. Secondary School Dimapur on Friday.
He said, if human resources that India has now are skilled nothing can stop and the 21st century would certainly belong to India.
On the occasion, the governor also cautioned the school to refrain from commercializing the noble task of providing education to the children and make the school an asset for the country.
Acharya stressed on the importance of learning diverse languages and pointed out that it would be a wrong idea to assume that learning to speak English brings intellect.
Stating that indigenous language is the identity of a community, he said the mother language of each community must be preserved. He also stressed the need for learning languages of neighboring countries in order to foster healthy relationship in the long run.
The governor lauded lone Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland and former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s choice of adopting a village from Tuensang under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) stating that his adoption reflects unity and equal feeling among all the countrymen.
Acharya also called upon the parents and teachers to impart patriotism, code of behavior and education to the children, which make them socially responsible and make them understand that the education they are receiving does not only represent them but society as a whole.
The annual parents’ day was marked by display on the story of the rise of Narandra Modi from 10 years old tea vendor to the level of Prime Minister of India, and Musical Act by Special Children of the school.
