Dimapur, June 29 (EMN): Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh P.B. Acharya, flagged off five days farmers training programme on horticulture crops with special emphasis on Naga mircha (Naga king chilli) on June 29, at Ligu Village, Daporijo, Arunachal Pradesh.
During the inaugural programme Acharya appreciated the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH) Medziphema, Nagaland and the Murmenrijo Welfare Consumer Cooperative Society, Daporijo (MWCCS) for taking up the initiation to conduct such training programme in a very remote area for the welfare of the farming community. The governor said Naga chilli is one of the hottest chillies in the world and is very popular in Nagaland. He said out of 300 trainees only one participant was wearing glasses which indicated that the people living in the villages were very healthy due to less pollution and healthy environment. The governor also said that people in India lives in remote of the remotest areas covering about 70 percent of the population and that farmers are the backbone of the country, so dreaming of a developed country should start from grass root level and that roads are the lifeline of the people as he travelled 12 hours to reach, Ligu village by road.
