Dimapur, June 20 (EMN): The governor of Nagaland has suggested to the Nagaland unit of the International Red Cross Society ought not to depend on the government “always” for revenue. They may engage in, say, let out estate or mobilize membership to increase the humanitarian group’s revenue, according to update from Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
The governor’s establishment issued a press release to the media informing about Governor PB Acharya’s interaction with members of the IRCN in Kohima.
It was during the meeting that the governor told the visitors that the IRCSN ‘should not depend’ on the government for revenue. “He called on the members to increase the membership and to-let out the property to increase their revenue. We have to see that the revenue increases to carry out the works but should not depend on the government always,” he stated, according to the updates.
Acharya has urged the unit to be sincere in their jobs. He encouraged the members to work “on modalities,” according to the update, on “how to strengthen the society” in various field including education and health sector. ‘Unless the poorest of the poor is strengthen the society will not move forward,’ the note stated.
Another suggestion he was said to have offered to the Society was that it conduct medical camps in the interior parts of the state, Raj Bhavan added.
