Ganesan, attended the 53rd Vijay Diwas celebrations at Jakhama Military Station
on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that on this
momentous occasion of Vijay Diwas, the gathering was to honour the valour,
bravery, and sacrifices of the armed forces, according to an update.
The Governor stated that the victory of December 16, 1971,
not only reshaped borders but also restored dignity, justice, and humanity to
millions. He emphasised the unparalleled courage and resilience of the
dedicated soldiers, who ensured peace and sovereignty. He further noted that
the victory they achieved and the spirit of sacrifice that accompanied it are
being celebrated.
He further said that the event marks a time to reflect not
only on past glories but also to recommit to the values upheld by the armed
forces—unity, courage, and sacrifice.
He described it as a reminder that the strength of the
nation is tied to the ability to stand united, regardless of challenges. He
also urged acknowledgement of the families of soldiers, whose quiet strength
supports the military’s resilience. He added that their unflinching support
forms the foundation upon which soldiers stand tall.
