DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, has
appealed to all citizens to contribute generously towards the Armed Forces Flag
Day fund for the welfare of serving defence personnel, battle casualties, war
widows, resettlement of Ex-servicemen and their dependents.
The governor stated that the Armed Forces Flag Day is
observed throughout the country on December 7 to honour the martyrs and the men
in uniform. He said the country is forever indebted to those gallant heroes who
laid down their lives in the service towards the motherland.
“It is our duty to not only show our admiration for the
martyrs and the living heroes who were wounded while doing their duties but
also to their families who have been a crucial part of this sacrifice,” the
governor said.
He added that our flag represents hopes and aspirations of
the people and a symbol of national pride.
“On this Armed Forces Flag Day, may the spirit of patriotism
and respect fill our hearts. In the face of adversity, our armed forces stand
strong. May we always remember and appreciate their bravery. A big salute to
our brave soldiers for their sacrifices,” Ganesan added.
