Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): State governor and various organisations have mourned the untimely demise of NC Max Zeliang, senior member of the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and member of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), who passed away on June 18 in Dimapur following brief illness. NC Max Zeliang was also the former vice president of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).
In a condolence message, state governor, PB Acharya, stated that Max Zeliang was the son of NC Zeliang, a close friend and one of the pioneer leaders of state BJP. Acharya lamented that NC Max’s demise is a great loss to the people of Nagaland in general and the party in particular.
He has prayed to the Almighty to give strength to his family members to withstand the demise.
State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed sadness at the passing away of its senior member who had contributed immensely in building the party to this stage.
According to the party media cell, Zeliang was a 1989 cadre of the party and the first president of the state BJYM (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha)- the state youth body in 1995. He was also the president of Peren BJP district from 2012- 2016 and state executive member till date.
NC Max Zeliang was the son of the first BJP Nagaland president NC Zeliang, who hails from Tening assembly constituency in Peren district and a pioneer in bringing BJP to the state in early 1990’s.
The party has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and pray for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Meanwhile, the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has also mourned the demise of its councillor NC Max Zeliang. The council general secretary, Thsapongkyu Sangtam has described him as a leader, who was actively involved in the activities of Naga council contributing to harmony and goodwill in Dimapur and Nagas in general.
The council has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Meanwhile, BJP Peren district president Huzantadbo Meriam has described Max Zeliang as an enthusiastic and devoted leader who had served as the president of state yuva morcha in 1995 and president of BJP Peren district from 2012-2016 and state executive member cum education cell convenor till his last breath.
The BJP Peren district mourned that the passing away of Zeliang is a loss for the district in particular and the whole Naga community in general. The party has also conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
