
Dimapur, April 14 (EMN): Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan, along with the staff observed the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar and paid floral tributes to the ‘Father of Indian Constitution’ at Raj Bhavan on April 14.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor urged upon the staff to go through the life history of Dr. BR Ambedkar, who had clear thoughts about everything and suffered a lot for the Nation.
An update from Raj Bhavan stated that Rajesh Soundarajan, secretary to the governor, highlighted the life history of Dr. BR Ambekar. He mentioned that Dr. Ambedkar was a social reformer, lawyer and political activist and added that the nation remembers him for his contributions to drafting the Indian Constitution and for standing up for the rights of the Dalit and the downtrodden.
He further stated that Ambedkar argued for extensive economic and social rights for women and reservations of jobs in civil services, schools and colleges for members of ST/SC and other backward classes.

BJP Mokokchung: Commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar, the Father of Indian Constitution, BJP Mokokchung district organised a grand programme at its office on Friday.
The main speaker at the programme, Pranab Singh, BJP general secretary of 27 Mokokchung town mandal, elucidated on the life, aspirations and achievements of Dr. BR Ambedkar, stated an update from BJP Mokokchung unit through its media cell.
It stated that the BJP general secretary of the minority morcha of Mokokchung, Odilepdang Longchar, welcomed the karyakartas, while the president of the minority morcha, Rongsenyanger Aier, chaired the programme.
The general secretary of BJP Mokokchung district, T Temsu Imchen, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to the minority morcha, ST morcha, mahila morcha and all who attended the programme.Later, the district office also distributed ‘saris’ and free rice to the minority community.
MGM College: MGM College in Dimapur also celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar on Friday at the college auditorium. The programme was organised by St. Thomas Mission Society.
An update from the college stated that the programme was chaired by Keyitwale of 4th semester, while a speech was delivered by MD Safikul Islam of B.Com 4th semester, wherein he encouraged the students to contribute selflessly to society and devote their lives to serve humanity by taking an example from the life of Dr. Ambedkar. A dance presentation and singing of the national anthem were other highlights of the programme.
