
While stressing on the need to promote and preserve the diverse cultures of the North Eastern States, Nagaland Governor and chairman of North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), La. Ganesan, said NEZCC is committed to preserve the rich culture and heritage.
The Governor stated this during his maiden visit to NEZCC in Dimapur on March 9. He has congratulated all the officers and staff of NEZCC led by its director, Dr. Prashana Gogoi, for their tireless efforts in promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Northeast region, stated a DIPR report.
“The diverse cultures of the Northeastern states need to be promoted and preserved and NEZCC is committed to preserve our rich cultural heritage,” Ganesan said.
He also thanked the centre for encouraging documentation of various forms of arts, music and dance, which are fast disappearing.
NEZCC director delivered the welcome address and Yotsu cultural club (Lotha), Chakhesang Zuve cultural club and Tsunso cultural club (Yimkhiung) presented cultural dances and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by D Vashum, NEZCC joint director.
State CIC team meets Governor
The Nagaland chief information commissioner (CIC), I Meyionen Jamir, along with two state information commissioners namely Nosazol Charles and T Kekongchim Yimkhiung made a courtesy call on Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Friday.
During the meeting, the commissioners congratulated the Governor on his recent appointment and shared the working system and functioning of the Commission and the effective implementation of the RTI Act in Nagaland, stated a DIPR report.
It stated that the issue on misuse of the RTI Act both by the information seekers as well as public authorities was also discussed.
Meanwhile, the Governor assured to extend his help both in the state and even at the centre to strengthen the Act. It further stated that grievances faced by the Commission were also highlighted to the Governor. Dimapur, March 10 (EMN)
