Dimapur, Aug. 30 (EMN): Nagaland governor, PB Acharya, highlighted the responsibility of media- the fourth pillar of democracy in nation building, and how media, both print and electronic, can play a crucial role in the overall development of the country through responsible reporting.
The governor was addressing journalists from prominent newspapers and news channels of Maharashtra at Maharashtra Patrakar Sangha, Azad Maidan, Mumbai, on August 28. Governor talked about the importance of development of the NAMASTE north east states for the overall development of the nation and how media could play its important role in this aspect.
A Raj Bhavan press release stated that the importance of 3Es - Education, Electricity and Employment was especially emphasised upon in order to develop the region.
He stated that it was the responsibility of every Indian to work for betterment of the NE India as the region was neglected in the past.
Acharya opined that India would develop as a strong nation only when all the states are developed equitably.
He, therefore, called upon the media to play important part by focusing on the positivity of the NE region in order to create the right image of Northeast India.
