Governor Acharya visits Gorkha Singhadevi Mandir

EMN Dimapur, August 18 On the auspicious festival of Krishna Janmastami, Governor PB Acharya and his lady wife, Kavita Acharya paid a visit to the Gorkha Singhadevi Mandir Complex and offered prayers at the Lord Krishna Mandir on August 17. The members of the Mandir Committee, GPP and other Gorkha NGOs received the Governor and his entourage. Welcoming the dignitaries, chairman of the committee thanked the Governor and said that by his visit to the Mandir complex, the community was greatly honoured. Addressing the gathering after the darshan, the Governor lauded the Gorkha community for preserving the century-old mandir and expressed his warm wishes to the community. He further added that India being a secular country there was complete freedaom to practice one’s religion and there was no religious discrimination. He also recalled his first visit to Kohima in the early 1960s, and said that he was happy to be there again. Expressing his profound happiness for being able to visit the mandir on the auspicious day, he said that in the House of God everybody was equal. Commending the community, the Governor and his entourage listened to bhajans presented by the female members and Kavita Acharya surprised the gathering with a beautiful bhajan.
