- KOHIMA — The
annual games and sports meet of Government High School (GHS) Bayavu, Kohima,
was held from March 10 to the 12th at the school campus (for indoor games) and
Meriema village ground (for outdoor games).
- A press release from the school stated that the event was
organised by the sports committee, which consisted of teacher Keneingusa,
Vithongunuo, and physical education teacher Kecubole.
- The students competed in football (boys), volleyball
(women), arm wrestling, carrom, 100m, 200m, tug of war, two-legged race among
the higher classes, and sweet biting, musical chairs, and spoon race among the
lower sections.
- The GHS Bayavu Football Trophy, played on the final day, was
the highlight of the meet. Yellow House lifted the trophy, with Red House
emerging as the runner-up.
- The closing ceremony featured the distribution of prizes for
various games and sports. Acting head teacher Kikruneinuo Liezietsu delivered
the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the community for their invaluable
support in shaping the school.
- The school authorities also extended their appreciation to
Avilie Rio, Councillor of Bayavu Ward, for contributing to the sanitation of
the school campus during the sports meet preparations; Kevizakie Rio, Joint
Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, for providing indoor games
equipment, including a table tennis board; and the Meriema Village Council and
Meriema Youth and Sports Association for their services and ground allocation.
