Kohima, July 10 (EMN): Nagaland Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha on Friday acknowledged that the government had issued directives to the employees for self-declaration of relation with ‘underground organisations'.
“The government can always ask for the relations,” he said, adding that the department had received the instruction from the state government.
According to the home commissioner, the state government 'finds it advisable' to seek such information from all the state employees.
Sinha informed this while interacting with journalists at his office chamber at Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima on Friday. He further maintained that at present, reports of the self-declaration are only meant for records.
The official stated that the department would wait till the fixed deadline of August 7 for the employees to submit their declaration forms, after which it would decide whether or not to extend the deadline for those who do not submit the details.
"It is a direction and everybody has to fill up the relevant details in the given form even if nil (sic); they will have to fill and submit," he said.
Even though the move might have appeared “sudden”, the home commissioner said, there are certain reasons for taking such decisions.
The Home department had on July 7 instructed all administrative heads and heads of departments to obtain information from government employees through a self-declaration form whether they have any family members or relatives as cadres of Naga “underground organisations”.
