The principal secretary for Home, Abhijit Sinha, stated that the government had always taken the matter with utmost seriousness and efforts continue to be exerted to resolve outstanding issues in amicably. That way, peace and understanding between the communities continue to prevail, the government stated.

“In the greater interest of peace and unity of the Naga family, the state government once again has appealed to the communities of both the districts of Peren and Dimapur, to maintain peace and tranquillity and desist from taking any step which may aggravate the situation and lead to vitiation of peace,” the IPR reported, from the government’s statement.
The government also appealed to the leaders of both the communities to put in every effort for ensuring that the environment of peace is maintained at all cost. Only then, the government will be able to work towards a resolution of the dispute to the satisfaction of everyone, the IPR added.
