DIMAPUR — The Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur (GYCD) organised a felicitation programme on May 9 in Dimapur to honour academic achievers from the Gorkha community in Nagaland.
According to an update, the event celebrated the milestones of students who excelled in the recently declared results of Nagaland Board of School Education and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations.
It was mentioned that Srishti Thapa secured the 7th rank in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination under NBSE, securing 94.20%. Jemimah Grace ranked 5th in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) under NBSE. Jason Rai achieved 90.40% in the CBSE exams, also emerging as a subject topper.
Meanwhile, Khusi Khadka secured the 3rd position in the Commerce stream among the government higher secondary schools and was a recipient of the Governor’s Award. All achievers were honoured with merit certificates and cash prizes.

LN Subba, Chief Convener of the Gorkhaland Rastriya Maunch, attended the event as the chief guest and congratulated the students on their success. In his address, he touched upon the significance of the Gorkhaland movement, stressing that it transcends identity and will play a pivotal role in the social uplifting and betterment of the community.
Deepak Chetri, Executive Member of BJP Nagaland, attended as the guest of honour and offered a message on resilience. He reminded the students that "victory and failure are both parts of life" and urged them to maintain a "never-give-up" attitude regardless of the challenges they face.
John Thakuri, President of the All Nagaland Gorkha Students’ Union, who also attended as the guest of honour, lauded the students for bringing glory to the Gorkhas in Nagaland. He commended GYCD President Sumit Sunar and the club for organising the event.
Thakuri further urged the youth to actively participate in student and youth bodies, stating that collective involvement is essential for community development.
