- KIPHIRE/DIMAPUR —
Good Shepherd High School began its annual sports meet on Thursday at the
school playground, with an inaugural session attended by teachers, students,
and guests.
- The headmaster, TV Thomas, officially opened the event and
encouraged students to do their best in sports and take part in events that
match their strengths and interests. He also reminded them that sports help
build discipline, confidence, and teamwork.
- The two-day meet includes various track and field events,
fun games, and team competitions. The students have been divided into four
groups, each led by a captain and a vice-captain, along with teachers who serve
as group in-charges.

- On the same day, the school reaffirmed its status as a
tobacco-free zone during a plantation drive organised by Akehda Amulung on the
theme "Say no to drugs, yes to life," according to a press release.
- On the occasion, Thomas praised Akehda Amulung for bringing
such a meaningful initiative to the school and reiterated the school’s
commitment to creating a healthy and safe environment for students.
- Longtili C Sangtam, founder of Akehda Amulung, delivered a
brief speech encouraging students and teachers to stay away from drugs. He
emphasised that drugs can destroy life, ambition, and the future. He urged Good
Shepherd High School to take the lead in spreading awareness and becoming
ambassadors for a drug-free Kiphire.
- The event also included a pledge against drug and tobacco
use, led by Apiba A Sangtam, followed by closing remarks from T Ariba, chairman
of Akehda Amulung.
