Good Shepherd High School in Kiphire begins its 23rd annual sports week focusing on teamwork, discipline, and community growth.

KIPHIRE — The 23rd annual sports week of the Good Shepherd High School (GSHS) in Kiphire began on Thursday marking the event not just a celebration of strength and speed but also a moment of unity, perseverance and upholding the pride of the school.
The annual sports torch was lit by the school’s headmaster, TV Thomas, in the presence of Longtili C, president of the school’s alumni association. The lighting of the torch symbolised the start of a journey filled with energy, passion and sportsmanship.
In his address, the headmaster encouraged all students to participate actively and maintain a positive attitude throughout the events. He urged them to give their best and strive to become better version of themselves through discipline and dedication.
He also expressed gratitude to the staff, students and the alumni association for their valuable contributions in making the event possible.

Also speaking on the occasion, the president of alumni association emphasised that discipline is the foundation of success. He encouraged the students to believe in teamwork and collective effort, reminding them that working together builds stronger teams and better individuals.
He also highlighted the importance of inclusive growth, where everyone is given the opportunity to participate and grow. He added that sports reveal a person’s true character and teach important life lessons beyond the field.
He further encouraged the students to cooperate with their teammates, support one another and grow together as one community. He added that sporting events are not only about competition but also about learning, bonding and celebrating together.
As the sports activities would continue through the weekend, students are encouraged to enjoy, relax and make the most of the special time.
