Kohima, Dec. 29 (EMN): Stating that good education is a prerequisite to getting any job, youth general secretary of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Vecüto Tenyi has advised students to be serious with their academic careers.
Tenyi stated this in his address at the 58th general session of the Middle Khomi Students’ Union (MKSU), which was held on December 27 and the 28th on the theme “My identity is my dignity.”
He advised the students not to look for a backdoor appointment but equip themselves with the required knowledge for competitive exams. Stating that students of today must look beyond the government job, he said there is ample opportunity for jobs and business opportunities. He, however, stated that one has to be well equipped with education first, an update from the union stated on Sunday.
“Study well today and the doors are open for you,” he said adding “If you do well, the future is yours.” He went on to added that each one is the master of their fate whether to be a successful person or not to be.
Also speaking during the occasion, assistant professor of Kohima Science College Dr. Sakhoveyi Lohe stated that culture is not just about wearing tradition attire on important occasions, dancing and singing folk songs but it also refers to attitude, beliefs, values, customs and behavioural pattern characterising a social group of people.
Regretting that the rich culture is on the verge of being lost, he stressed on the need to promote and preserve it.
Earlier, MKSU president Veto Nakro delivered the presidential address, while the president of Middle Khomi Village youth organisation Zalezo Vero shared greetings.
Zhosahu Lala has been elected as president to lead the MKSU’s new team.
