Dimapur, Oct. 15 (EMN): Terming the Goan Buras (GB) as custodian of Naga society, advisor of Food and Civil Supplies, Pukhayi Assumi, has called upon the members to shoulder their responsibilities with diligence in order to maintain peace and harmony.
Pukhayi stated this during the inauguration of the Dimapur District GBs’ Association (DDGBA) office at Naga Shopping Arcade (Super Market) in Dimapur on Saturday. He urged the members to make us of the facility for the welfare of the Naga people and strive to bring peace among the Naga community.
Considering the current state of affairs, the advisor observed the Naga society is heading nowhere but mired in chaos and confusion. In this regard, the advisor called upon the Goan Buras to give constructive ideas as the guardians of the society. He has also sought their intervention to avoid clashes between the communities.
Pukhayi has urged the GBs to facilitate in bringing about transformation among the different Naga societies. Considering the fertility of soil condition in Nagaland, he also urged the members to promote textile and make Nagaland “textile capital of the country.’
The advisor stated that for the betterment of the society, the GBs need to give constructive ideas that come with honesty and not to criticise and stop gossiping. He also expressed concern on the issue of division among Nagas in the name of sovereignty, not being able to explore the potential of the state, agriculture, and misuse of RTI Act in the state.
The inaugural programme was held at Hotel Saramati, wherein short speech was delivered by its vice president and the vice president of Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF), Tohoshe Awomi.
