Dimapur, November 12: Johnny Ruangmei, OSD of NSDMA (Home Department) and former secretary general of Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) has highlighted about the ongoing Naga peace talks and its region to the global youth.
Johnny Ruangmei, who was invited as a special guest, shared on the Naga peace process at the Global Peace Youth Exchange programme held at United Nation Convention Centre (UNESCAP) in Bangkok, Thailand, organized by Global Peace Foundation, USA, and Global Young Leaders Assembly in collaboration with World Youth Assembly from November 7 to 12.
Speaking on the topic “Youth the answer in the search for peace (a perspective from North East India with particular reference to Naga peace process), the special guest speaker enlightened the delegates about the hidden world between Tibet, China and Myanmar- the North East India and also about Nagaland. He highlighted the potential of the North East India especially Nagaland in the context of building connection between ASEAN countries and also other neighboring countries.
He impressed upon the delegates to inculcate a culture of building the connect between physical science and spiritual world- a culture of web connecting the young for benevolent world and culture fertile for nurturing young contemplative and articulative leader to comprehend the inner event and what is happening in the society.
He said the culture of Asia Pacific Youth Exchange is to become an industry to produce breakthrough leaders with extra ordinary capabilities to envision as well as to plan and implement strategies to lead the society with direction.
On the issue of North East India, the special guest speaker told the delegates that the North East India region has a huge potential in terms of eco-tourism, trade and natural resources. The North East India region has 80% of India’s international borders and it is a strategic location both of India and other neighboring countries.
The delegates at the Global Peace Youth were from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, USA, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Albania along with two participants from Nagaland namely Benedict and Ms Limasenla, who are the executive office bearers of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM).
Both the delegates from Nagaland who attended the Global Peace Youth Exchange at Bangkok were supported by Elias T Lotha, former president CAN, and Shingato, former secretary CAN.
