Global Naga Forum refutes WC-NNPG’s allegations
The Global Naga Forum has rejected what it stated were baseless allegations and false accusations made against the forum by the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups
- DIMAPUR — The
Global Naga Forum (GNF) has rejected what it stated were baseless allegations
and false accusations made against the forum by the Working Committee of Naga
National Political Groups (WC-NNPG).
- In a recent statement, the committee had called the forum,
among others, a propped-up mouthpiece of NSCN (IM), an appendage of NSCN (IM).
It also accused the GNF of fuelling division among the Nagas.
- “GNF wants WC-NNPG and fellow Nagas to know that we take two
things to heart about the Nagas: ‘One People, One Destiny,’ which is our motto,
and advocating for Nagas the human right of political self-determination in our
homeland.
- “We don’t believe Nagas need other people’s permission to
live and govern ourselves in our own lands. Nor do Nagas need the unending
imposition of the repressive military law (AFSPA) intruding into our day-to-day
lives, which permits the armed forces to kill us with predictable regularity,
always ‘by mistaken identity,’ without the fear of criminal prosecution,” read a
statement issued by the forum on Saturday.
- It also asserted that Nagas do not need Indian “security
forces” curbing their freedom of movement in their homeland.
- “So, as a global Naga body dedicated to the defence of human
rights, some of whose members have contributed to the international discourse
of human rights while others have devoted their lives to active advocacy for
justice and human rights at home, in India, and other countries, the Global
Naga Forum would be remiss if it did not stand up for our own human right not
to be falsely and publicly accused of being something or someone we are not. We
hope WC-NNPG will henceforth respect our right to truthful representation as
fellow Nagas,” it stated.
