Girls in Aboi undergo training in soft toy-making

[caption id="attachment_177448" align="alignnone" width="550"] Vineikho Tetso, and Songmeth along with participants at the inaugural function of the soft toy-making training programme in Aboi town.[/caption] Dimapur, April 19 (EMN): The Nagaland branch of the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), under the aegis of the government of Nagaland and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has launched a month-long vocational training programme in soft toy-making for young girls in Aboi town, Mon district. 130 trainees who were registered for the training, are expected to learn new skills to further their passion for creativity besides enabling them to find livelihood from the new skill. Speaking at the inaugural programme, Vineikho Tetso, the extra additional commissioner for Aboi, spoke of happiness at the overwhelming response of the young to the vocational training. The officer wished that some of them would become professionals and be self-reliant. He exhorted the participants to fully commit themselves to the training and to acquire knowledge. The officer informed the young trainees about the works of FPA India as well. The organisation’s activism focuses on safe motherhood, maternal and child health, adolescents’ health and various vocational skills trainings for economic empowerment. Songmeth, the president of a community organisation has thanked the FPA for providing the opportunity for such a vocational training to the people. She encouraged the trainees to learn the art of soft toy making which she said would augment their income and livelihood.
