Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): International Day of the Girl Child was celebrated at Kiphire town on October 11 at DC’s conference hall, Kiphire on the theme, “Little Girl with dreams become women with vision".
This was informed by DIPR in an update made available to the media on Monday.
Speaking at the event, SDO (C) Nyempo Wallim encouraged the students to cultivate the spirit of competition and to dream big in order to become successful.
Langkhuli of Saramati View Modern School was extempore speech competition while Seoul of Agape School bagged second prize. In prepared speech category, Chutiya of Eastern Christian School and Cip Bose of Saramati View Modern School won the first and second prizes respectively.
Altogether, 11 students participated in extempore and prepared speech competitions.
Angjangyang

In a separate update, DIPR informed that International Day of Girl Child was celebrated at Angjangyang subdivision on the theme “Little girls with dreams become woman with a vision" at Multipurpose Hall, Angjangyang HQ.
President of LASU and Social worker Wangkhao was the resource person of the programme.
Yanithung Ngullie, SDO (C) Angjangyang, presented the keynote address while Rebecca, a student of GHS Angjangyang, recited "my dream as a girl child".
Tangnyu village
International Girl Child Day was observed in Tangnyu village under Mon district on the theme “Girl force: Unscripted and Unstoppable” at Council hall, on October 11, according to an update from DIPR.
Supervisor, Social Welfare department L Amei Konyak highlighted the significance of International Girl Child Day and said that it was celebrated to address the needs and challenges faced by girls. She added that the day was also observed to create awareness and educate the general mass to solve the issues being face by girl child.
Mon block co-ordinator Poshan Abhiyan, Yingphe also deliberated on the objectives of Nutritional Nutrition Mission and stressed on improving the nutritional status of children below six years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Chen town
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Task force Chen organised International Day of the Girl Child celebration at Chen headquarters on the theme “Little girls with dreams became women with vision” at R D conference hall, Chen town on October 11.
An update from DIPR that was made available to the media on Monday informed that SDO Civil Chen, L Samuel Konyak, told the gathering that the day was observed to raise awareness about the challenges that girls face and need for empowerment and fulfilment of their rights. He also encouraged the students to put more effort in their studies and give their best in whatever they do.
Dr. Shokwang Konyak, MO Chen Town, said that cleanliness and good hygiene contributes to better health care and encouraged girls to maintain good hygiene. He also emphasised on environment cleanliness and added that it could prevent many infectious diseases.
Speaking at the event, GHSS Chen headmaster encouraged the participants to excel by citing the example of Kiran Bedi, first woman IPS office; Mary Kom, the Olympic medallist; and Sania Mirza, the Indian professional tennis player.
Essay writing competition was conducted on the topic “little girls with dreams became women with vision” at the programme. Sanitary pad was also distributed to the students.
