Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): With the objective to revive the vibrant culture and also disseminate the knowledge to the students, the Art and Culture Committee of Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha, had observed a ‘Cultural Day’ on August 31 on the theme “Our culture, our identity.”
Former minister and vice president of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Dr. Chumben Murry, was the chief guest.
In the inaugural session, the school principal, Emilo Patton, welcomed the gathering consisting of the invitees, teachers and students who all came in colourful traditional attires, while the committee convenor, Yiben R Humtsoe, delivered the keynote address on the theme ‘Our culture, our identity.’
The day witnessed enthralling and enlightening presentations from the students with folk songs, folk dances, ramp walk showcasing traditional attires and narration on traditional village formation.
In the second session, students participated in various traditional games such as bamboo pole climbing, knitting of socks and tug of war. The day ended with a common feast amongst teachers and students.
The committee member, Mhabemo Humtsoe, proposed the vote of thanks.
