Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): The 58th annual sports week of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Pfutsero got underway on September 10, with Razousheyi Vese, additional director school education as guest speaker in the inaugural programme, according to an update received here on Wednesday.
Vese congratulated the school for showing good performance in all spheres and encouraged the school to further excel in its endeavours to become a government model school.
While exhorting the crowd he quoted Aristotle who said “The roots of education is bitter but the fruit is sweet” and George Washington ” Education is the key to unlock the golden door” and challenged the teachers and students to work hard to excel in life.
Vese also reminded the students that education and sports must go hand in hand as it is not possible to do well in academics if one’s health is not good. He urged the students to embrace essential life skills while they are still young.
He also appreciated the community leaders of Pfutsero for their active participation in the development and growth of the school.
The special feature of the 2019 sports edition of the school is blending of traditional games. The school has included traditional wooden cart racing, archery, bamboo stilt race, hurdle race and bamboo pole climbing.
