DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 2: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Medziphema, took pledge to make their school one of the cleanliest schools and also vowed to “say no to tobacco”, during the awareness programme and cleanliness drive, initiated by ICAR-NRC on Mithun November 1 at the school premises.
More than 150 students participated in cleaning the school campus and painting spit stained walls of the school.
School principal, Avikali, in her welcome remark expressed sincere gratitude to ICAR for selecting the school for the programme
Dr. AbhijitMitra, director of ICAR-NRCM motivated the students to adopt cleanliness in all spheres of life and promote the habit to others. He has also highlighted the devastating health hazards of using tobacco and chewing beetle nuts, while Life NGO member imparted information on segregation and safe disposal of waste.
ICAR-NRC on Mithun also provided coloured dustbins for different purposes; red: hazardous waste, green: organic waste, blue: recyclable waste and yellow: wet waste.
The programme is a continuation of the ongoingSwachh Bharat Mission campaign. ICAR-NRC on Mithun has planned to organize a series of awareness programme and cleanliness drive in different academic institutions, schools and villages in and around Dimapur. ICAR will regularly monitor the progress with the objective of making the school as one of the cleanest schools in the state.
The Programme was attended by Dr. KobuKhate, ACTO & nodal officer, Swachh Bharat Mission Campaign, ICAR-NRCM, Dr. Akhilesh Kumar, scientist, NRCM, member of Life NGO, ImyarilaChangkire, Niksungla, ChangsulongAlingr and MakennaroAier .
