GHSS Medziphema and SFS Higher Secondary School claim titles at the 9th Inter-School Football Tournament in Medziphema.
DIMAPUR — Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Medziphema and St. Francis De Sales (SFS) Higher Secondary School emerged as champions in the High School and Higher Secondary divisions, respectively, at the 9th Inter-School Football Tournament, which concluded in Medziphema on Monday.
According to an update, the tournament was organised by the Medziphema Town Students’ Union.
In the Higher Secondary Division final, SFS Higher Secondary School defeated GHSS Medziphema 2-0 in a hard-fought match. SFS took the lead in the 25th minute when Kezhavizo found the back of the net with a precise finish. In the second half, captain Amang doubled the lead with a powerful strike from close range.
In the High School Division final, GHSS Medziphema defeated SFS Higher Secondary School 2-0. GHSS Medziphema opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Lhousakhoto. SFS enjoyed superior ball control in the second half but failed to convert their chances, with several attempts missing the target.
GHSS Medziphema sealed the victory when Lhousakhoto scored his second goal of the match.
In the individual awards for the Higher Secondary Division, Mhasilhouto of GHSS Medziphema was named Best Goalkeeper, Shushant of SFS received Best Defender, Vincent of SFS was awarded Best Player, and Kikruneilie Kera of SFS took the Highest Scorer award.
In the High School Division individual awards, Lammik ai of SFS was adjudged Best Goalkeeper, Mhasivoto of GHSS Medziphema won Best Defender, Lhousakhoto of GHSS Medziphema took Best Player, and Viselie Vasa of SFS was named Highest Scorer.
Among the special awards, Lunchong of Modern Christian School was awarded Emerging Player, while Modern Christian School received the Best Disciplined Team award.
