Dimapur, Sep. 22 (EMN): Government Hindi Institute (GHI), Dimapur, celebrated the 51st Hindi Divas on September 20 in which meritorious students were felicitated on the occasion.
The programme was conducted by Rongsenkala (HT), while the welcome address was delivered by Dr. BP Philip, principal of GHI. The principal also highlighted on the role of GHI in producing qualified Hindi teachers towards promoting Hindi education in the state which is the official language of the country. Invocation prayer was said by Rev. Robert Singh.
During the Hindi Pakhwada (fortnight) from September 14 to 21, the institute had organised competitions on various topics. Altogether, 15 trainees who secured 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in various competitions were awarded commendation certificates along with cash prizes.
YP Singh (HT) gave a brief history on how Hindi was constitutionally made an official language despite having so many rich languages in India.
The guest speaker, Zakienei Khoube, deputy director of School Education, handed over the best performance award of the academic session 2018-19 to two GHI students (male and female) which included commendation certificate, books and cash prizes under the “Governor’s Grants Fund Award.”
While addressing the audience, the guest speaker maintained that right from the inception of the lone Hindi institute in 1968, it had produced many qualified Hindi teachers of which he is a living example to hold the present post. He acknowledged the state as well as central government and Central Institute of Hindi, Agra, for taking keen interest for Hindi education.
He further highlighted on the role of Hindi teachers’ union to popularise Hindi in the state and exhorted the trainees to study Hindi not only for government job but be fitted in any field by learning the language and be a part in nation building.
The Hindi Divas celebration was organised in coordination with “Samagra Shiksha” as per the direction of principal director, Shanavas C, Directorate of School Education. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by AS Yarthtngam, Hindi instructor.
