
DIMAPUR — The Wokha District Gaon Burahs (GBs) Association held its 7th general conference on November 27 at the Town Hall in Bhandari, on the theme ‘Administration of justice’.
According to a DIPR report, the conference's special guest was Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ranjan. The conference theme emphasised the critical role of GBs in ensuring grassroots justice.
On the occasion, Ranjan acknowledged the important role of gaon buras in assisting the district administration as well as serving as a voice for justice in villages, and urged GBs to take proactive roles in strengthening the federation and guiding society towards progress.
He also stressed the significance of education, healthcare, and addressing water-related issues.
Amos Kikon, chairman of LLRPO, in his speech, mentioning the powers, roles, and functions of GBs, called for the official acknowledgement of the GBs who have been serving without formal recognition.
