Inspector General of Police (IGP), Nagaland, Richard Yimto has lauded the Gaon
Buras (GBs) for keeping the traditions alive by preserving the beautiful legacy
of forefathers’ administration system, culture and as guardians of the village.
He stated this during the 36th general session of Chessore
Area GBs’ Association (CAGBA) held in Y Anner village under Shamator district
on Friday on the theme "Kingdom is the rock of foundation."
Speaking on the theme, Yimto, who was chief guest of the
session, called upon the village chiefs to know God and discharge their duties
in truth. He also urged them to strive for peace among neighbouring villages
and communities, a DIPR report stated.
Short speeches were delivered by Kiumukam, president of
Shamator Area GBs’ Association, and Lakiumong, president of Yimkhiung GBs’
Association.
The programme was chaired by its general secretary, Ramji,
and invocation prayer was said by Pentsu, pastor of Y Anner village Baptist
Church.
The welcome address was delivered by K Yimtokiu, Head GB of
Y Anner village, while the keynote address was delivered by its president, S
Tochimong.
A song was presented by Y Anner Church choir and folk song
by GBs of Chessore village.
The programme culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by
its vice president, R Mukam, and a benediction said by women pastor of Y Anner
Baptist Church, Makila.
