Dimapur, May 28 (EMN): Considering the rich natural resources in Nagaland, power minister C Kipili Sangtam called upon the Goan Buras (GBs) to evolve better system of administration by emphasising on work culture in order to be self sufficient.
Kipili Sangtam said this at the 8th general session of Sumi Ahuyemi Kukami Hoho (SAKH) at Pughoboto town hall on May 26 in the presence of Road & Bridges minister Y Vikheho Swu, and the parliamentary secretary of IPR, Imtikumzuk.
Stating that Nagaland is blessed with huge natural resources, Kipili Sangtam emphasised on the need to revive work culture in order to achieve self sufficiency in food production.
Expounding on the role of the GBs, who are the custodians of cultural and traditional practices, he urged upon GBs to be careful while dispensing justice. He also lauded the R&B minister for his leadership qualities and opening various development activities such as road, education, water supply, etc for the area people. He further appealed the gathering from 24 villages to think about Pughoboto as a God gifted place.
Minister of R&B, Y Vikheho Swu, while underlining his desire to make Pughoboto one of the cleanest constituencies, urged the public to actively participate to bring about change. Dwelling on the skill development and entrepreneurship, Swu said every individual should to engage themselves according to their skills to generate resources for more income.
He also highlighted the development activities being carried out in his constituency under LADF besides various other schemes. He further dwelled on how the GBs should exercise their power and function as per the Nagaland GBs Act with special power given to them for maintaining justice in the villages.
Sumi Aphuyemi Hoho president, Inavi Swu, highlighted on the importance of GBs, while ADC Avelu Ruho encouraged the GBs to play their role and work for the welfare of the people in their respective areas.
The programme was chaired by president SAKH Suhoje Kiho. Introduction and welcome speech was delivered by advisor SAKH Kughakhu Shagi, while the vote of thanks was rendered by SAKH judicial secretary Kihovi Swu.
