Dimapur, Nov. 21 (EMN): The Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation has requested the governor of Nagaland to appeal to the government of India to “officially invite” the NSCN group led by Khango Konyak for peace talks.
Raj Bhavan issued a press release on Wednesday informing that the governor and the leaders of the Nagaland GB Federation met on Nov. 21, at the Raj Bhavan in Kohima.
‘The federation called on the governor and submitted a memorandum requesting him to appeal to the government of India to officially invite the NSCN-GPRN led by Shri Khango Konyak for the peace talk at the earliest.
The Nagaland GB Federation was led by the President, Shri Shahlem Konyak,’ the press release stated.
Governor PB Acharya was said to have told the Gaon Bura that they have been playing a vital role in the governance of the state and that they were an essential component of the state’s government.
Further, the Raj Bhavan update stated, the governor appreciated their efforts to ‘creating a peaceful atmosphere and contributing towards nation building.’
“Governor Acharya stated that GBs were the main people to build their villages and called on the members to be agents in informing the targeted people of the various Central and State Government welfare schemes and programmes. This will bring development and progress to the society,” the updates asserted.
The federation was urged to continue their work to ensure peace in Nagaland, the press release stated.
‘He opined that peace was the need of the hour in the state. The governor stated that the peace process was moving in the right direction and hoped that a settlement will be reached at the earliest.’
Also, Acharya expressed appreciation to the Naga Mothers’ Association for their role in promoting peace and harmony in the state, the updates stated.
