G Sports FC thrashed Medziphema FA 7–0, while Peren District FC edged Ntangki FC to reach the Kengrüse tournament semi-finals
KOHIMA — G Sports FC and Peren District FC booked their places in the semi-finals of the 10th Captain N Kengrüse MVC Memorial Football Tournament with contrasting quarter-final victories at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on Friday.
G Sports FC thrashed Medziphema FA 7–0, while Peren District FC edged past Ntangki FC 1–0 to complete the semi-final line-up.
G Sports FC took an early lead through Kekruzelie in the fifth minute before Visalie struck twice in the 20th and 31st minutes. Sakomar added a fourth in the 44th minute to give his side a commanding 4–0 lead at half-time.
The dominance continued after the break, with Vikedо scoring in the 60th minute. Kekruzelie completed his brace four minutes later before Vikedо also netted his second in the 67th minute to seal the emphatic win. Moalong was cautioned in the 88th minute.
In the other quarter-final, Peren District FC had to wait until the closing stages to overcome Ntangki FC. Neither side managed to score in the first half, with Ntangki's Rameu receiving a yellow card in the 13th minute.
The contest remained evenly matched after the break, while Peren's Idalungbe was cautioned in the 79th minute. Kenumdi finally broke the deadlock in the 86th minute, scoring the decisive goal to send Peren District FC through with a 1–0 victory.
The semi-finals will be played on Saturday, November 7. Satakha FC will face G Sports FC at 1 pm, while Head Hunters FC take on Peren District FC at 5 pm.
