Double scores by Nyithong and Khekrietsira gives the defending Champion Fusion F/C to claim triumph over the under Dog Dilong Y/ D today at the last semi final match of XXI MDFA trophy at Imkongmeren Sport Complex on Friday.
The Under Dog Dilong Y/D team gave a tough match to the defending champion but yet they managed to hold its ground to defend for their title. The match started with Fusion strong aggression to take over but the Dilong Y/D gave tough fight against their opponent. However with the entry of Fusion strong midfielder Athing from the substitution bench around 10th minutes of the first half saw a better coordination among the fusion players.
Fusion, with better ball possession, pushed forward and made some serious shots but did not land on the net. Fusion found a chance when Sethpion (jersey 3) of Dilong’s tackled down a fusion player near the D-Box in 35th minutes and receive a yellow card. The shot was taken but could not translate into a goal. Fusion striker Khekrietsira also received a yellow card 4th minutes later for his unsporting behavior.
At the dying minutes of the first half Fusion midfielder Nyithong (jersey 16) found the goal mouth when a deflected ball came at his boots inside the penalty line which swiftly nail it into the net.
In the second half the Dilong Youth Association missed some opportunities to equalize the score. Fusion F/C increased its goal to double in the 54th minute through the boots of Khekrietsira (jersey -18) and send a strong distressed to the Dilong Supporters gathered in huge numbers to witnessed the match .
The Dilong team also didn’t lose heart with moral boost from their supporter. They relentlessly tried to equalize its scores but the strong defense line of Fusion was tough choice for them. However their afford were in vein as they could find the goal mouth till the last minutes.
“Today we played in 4-3-3 formation which was first time for us. We had full confident to win the match today,” the Fusion Team manager S Meyi Longkumer disclosed.He also added that the opponent team were weak in last finishing touched.
On Thursday the first semi final match the Shitilong humiliated NU Lumami by 4-0. With today’s win Fusion will meet Shitilong S/A in final on October 23.
