Dimapur, September 25 : A conglomeration of civil organizations, including tribal and business groups, have placed before the Nagaland government a 15-day period to bring in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for ‘thorough investigation of the fuel adulteration issue and to re-arrest all the fuel adulteration kingpins.’
The 15-day ultimatum starts from September 23 and expires on the 8th of October.
The Co-ordination Committee on Fuel Adulteration was formed by a public resolution on September 10 this year.
The leaders of the committee met with the chief secretary of Nagaland on September 23 and submitted a memorandum containing a number of resolutions. The resolutions were said to have been adopted on the 10th.
The press release listed out the resolutions: The committee has served a 15-days time to the Nagaland state government to bring in the CBI for ‘thorough investigation of the fuel adulteration issue and to re-arrest all the fuel adulteration kingpins.’
“In the event of failure by the state government to fulfil demand, the Coordination Committee was (sic) to enforce bandh on national highways within the state as it deemed fit,” the press release stated.
The memorandum was signed by representatives of the Coordination Committee on Fuel Adulteration comprising the NTC, CAVCA, CCCTA, BAN, YAN, DUCCF, NMDA, DEEHA, Diphupar Naga Students’ Union, ENSUD, DALT, SN, NHRA, EDBA, Concerned Senior Citizen’s Forum, Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), Petroleum Dealers’ Association, Chumoukedima Town Youth Organisation, and DDCF.
